How to spin your wedges close to the pin

If you are having problems hitting those little spinners with your wedges, perhaps your ball position is off, or your technique is also off. Play the ball towards the middle on your stance on most of your irons, especially on the short irons. This will help you get your hands ahead of the ball through impact, which will be essential for spinning the ball.  Hit a three quarter swing for trajectory and distance control.  Abbreviate your follow-through to match your backswing.  Now the key to imparting backspin on the ball is clubhead speed through impact.  The faster clubhead speed you have, the more spin you can create. Your big muscles create clubhead speed, not your wrists or hands (small muscles)Remember keep your big muscles like your hips, chest, shoulders move through impact, and you will be able to spin the ball on command.
