Better Balance for a Better Golf Swing

Balance is one of the most important aspects of the golfswing: affecting almost every phase in the swing.  Having good balance helps your body to turnand shift weight more effectively, helps in making a smooth transition from thebackswing to the downswing and allows your body to create more club head speed.Improving your balance takes time and practice and it doesn't just happenovernight. However, with consistent practice, you should be able to improveyour balance over time and see improvement in your golf swing. Balance is justlike muscle strength, you need to work at it or you will lose it. Also as weage, our sight, hearing, muscle strength, coordination and reflexes change, weakeningour balance and some health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, andcirculation problems, affect balance. Incorporating balance exercises into yourpre-round warm up routine is a great way to assure that you are practicing toimprove your balance on a consistent basis.
 
One Leg Balance Drill with Medicine Ball or Golf Club.
This exercise will not only help you improve balance butwill also strengthen your lower body.
Lets’ work on your balance, Stand in your golf posture withfeet shoulder width apart holding a medicine ball chest high or your golf club.Lift one leg up behind you. Simply hold this position for 30 seconds withoutswaying or touching your lifted foot on the ground. Repeat exercise on theopposite leg.
 
Lets’ work on your balance, Challenge yourself by repeatingthis exercise standing on a wobble board or Aero Mat. The even surface willchallenge you balance and strengthen your core.
